Prescribed Fire Apprentice Emily “Oli” Ferron grew up surrounded by the nature and environmentalists of California, so she developed a passion for sustainability early in life. Originally her undergraduate education focused on health sciences, specifically OBGYN nursing at Emory University in Oxford, GA. Through college, she worked at Oxford’s organic farm which redirected her into a career in land management and later fire prevention. Since 2023, she has worked with the Marin County Fire Department as a defensible space inspector and then as a member of the FIRE Foundry fuels reduction crew. Oli lives in Petaluma, CA, and can be found frequenting Copperfield’s Bookstore, at her family’s community art studio Life on Art, or enjoying a show on the Boulevard.
