Audubon Canyon Ranch created a database, preliminary inventory, and report of the selected vertebrates of Modini-Ingalls Ecological Preserve, with species profiles, status assessments, and management objectives. Amphibians as a group have experienced declines in recent decades even in protected areas. Jim and Shirley Modini have long had a keen interest in the large mammals and birds of the ranch and as such have worked to document and invite others to document the presence of those animals. In contrast, the amphibians of the ranch are relatively unknown. The survey used field observations and information from the Modinis to assemble a list of the amphibians known to inhabit MIEP. This list will be used as a basis for management recommendations.
