The Yellow-crowned Night-Heron changes little in breeding season, but here was can see it has developed deep pink legs, indicating prime breeding condition. Note the white crown and cheek patch, and white crown plume. The bill is thicker than that of the Black-crowned Night-Heron, which is in a different genus.
