Raised in Marin County, Sarah is well-acquainted with Audubon Canyon Ranch, having followed the lead of her mother, and serving as a volunteer of our shorebird and waterbird monitoring programs since their inceptions, now marking 32 years. Birds and conservation have played a major role in her life; Sarah volunteered and worked at Point Reyes Bird Observatory (now Point Blue Conservation Science) for many years beginning in the mid-1970s and then was an employee of the National Park Service (NPS), retiring after 26 years in 2019. She earned both her doctorate and master’s degrees from UC Berkeley and is co-author of the UC Press Field Guide to Marine Mammals of the Pacific. Sarah lives with her husband in Inverness, California.
