Rebecca Simon (Beki) is retired from a long career in scholarly publishing, serving first as a marketing manager and later as associate director of University of California Press, where she directed the journals and digital publishing division. During her professional career, Beki enjoyed serving on the CrossRef, Society for Scholarly Publishing and Association of University Presses boards.

She first encountered Audubon Canyon Ranch more than thirty years ago during visits to the Martin Griffin Preserve rookery with her nephews and continues to enjoy these explorations with a new crop of grand nieces and nephews.

Through volunteer work with Environmental Forum of Marin and MALT, Beki learned of Audubon Canyon Ranch’s education program and trained to become a docent in 2015. She loves working with kids to nurture a connection with the natural world. A board member since 2018, Beki appreciates the opportunity to apply her experience in organizational management and strategic planning toward further fostering connections between people, nature and science as a way to build resilience in our rapidly changing environment
