Promoting a conservation ethic in people of all ages is central to our mission of Conservation in Action. Please join us on the preserves to explore seasonal changes, take part in naturalist training or dig in with other volunteers to assist our land management team. Reservations are required for most events in order to ensure that human impact is kept in balance with land and habitat preservation goals.

Open for Exploration: “It’s My Fault!” Earthquakes and the San Andreas

Jul 20 2019 - 10:00am to 4:00pm
Martin Griffin Preserve

“It’s My Fault!” Earthquakes and the San Andreas
Join volunteer Nature Guide Marty on July 20th as we discover the faultline that has defined the San Francisco Bay Area, learn about its movements, the tectonic plates, and more… and have a look at the lagoon through scopes and binoculars, through which the San Andreas runs! Guided hikes/talks at 11am and 2pm, and activities around earthquakes and geology throughout the day.

As every Saturday, we’ll have ample opportunity for nature exploration! Join our volunteer Nature Guides and grab a pair of binoculars or peer in the scopes to watch osprey dive for fish and eagles disrupt the waterbirds over the Bolinas Lagoon. Grab a net and scoop a newt at our freshwater ponds. Come out to our kids’ tables to do activities related to the sights, sounds, and smells of July at Martin Griffin Preserve! No reservation necessary -- please join us!
