Promoting a conservation ethic in people of all ages is central to our mission of Conservation in Action. Please join us on the preserves to explore seasonal changes, take part in naturalist training or dig in with other volunteers to assist our land management team. Reservations are required for most events in order to ensure that human impact is kept in balance with land and habitat preservation goals.

ACR Nature Guides interpret the natural environment of Martin Griffin Preserve and its many unique natural features for weekend visitors. 

Our next nature guide training will occur over nine Saturdays beginning March 9, 2019. Learn about birds, plants, aquatic critters, Bolinas Lagoon ecology and more! Training includes techniques for interpreting natural history and leading guided nature walks.

ACR’s Nature Guide program is an ideal opportunity for working professionals and college students to spend time in nature and gain hands-on field experience. Volunteer times are on weekends and holidays and are flexible.

***Due to storm damage, Pine Flat Road has been closed for repairs by the County of Sonoma. It is unknown when it will reopen. Regrettably, we must cancel the Modini Mayacamas Preserves Stewards workday. ***

The Modini Mayacamas Preserves Stewards provide essential hands-on assistance to our land management team, including trail maintenance, invasive plant removal, native plant propagation, and other special projects. Come learn more about the Preserves by getting your hands dirty! We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of most months from 9:00am – 1:00pm as well as the last Saturday of every month, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Pine Flat History with Local Historian Joe Pelanconi & ACR Biologist Michelle Cooper **Cancelled**

Come and enjoy this casual walk through Pine Flat with ACR Biologist Michelle Cooper and Joe Pelanconi, author of Quicksilver Mining in Sonoma County: Pine Flat Prospect Fever. You’ll learn about the mercury-mining boom-town of the mid-1870’s and some of the personalities involved. Joe tells some great stories based on his research, and his book about Pine Flat is a great read too!

$20 per person suggested donation. Contributions support the preservation, education and conservation science programs of Audubon Canyon Ranch. All donations are greatly appreciated!

Guided Nature Walk

Bouverie Preserve

Experience the beauty and rich natural history of this 535-acre preserve. Our guided nature walks are on Saturdays throughout fall and spring. Participants are divided into small groups and paired with a trained Bouverie volunteer to explore the mixed evergreen forest and flower-carpeted oak woodland. Guided Nature Walks begin at 10:00am and end at 12:00pm and are no more than 2.5 miles long.

Visitors of all ages are welcome. In order to attend a Guided Nature Walk or Twilight Hike, minors (those under the age of 18) MUST be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

$20 per person suggested donation. Contributions support the preservation, education and conservation science programs of Audubon Canyon Ranch. All donations are greatly appreciated!
